💭 A walkthrough of your first conversation in Menturi. Learn the interface and see what you can do.

The Chat Interface

When you log in, you'll see the main chat screen with these key areas:

  • Sidebar (left) — Your chat history, organized by date
  • Chat area (center) — Where conversations happen
  • Input field (bottom) — Type your messages here
  • Mode cards (center) — Quick access to specialized Chat Modes

Send Your First Message

  1. Click in the input field at the bottom
  2. Type your message (try: "What can you help me with?")
  3. Press Enter or click the send button
  4. Watch the AI respond

Understanding the Input Area

Below the text input, you'll see:

  • + button — Attach files or select a Chat Mode
  • Model selector — Shows current model (e.g., GPT-5.2). Click to switch.
  • AI reply toggle — Turn AI responses on/off (useful in shared chats)

Things to Try

  • Ask a follow-up question — The AI remembers your conversation
  • Switch models — Try Claude or Gemini for a different perspective
  • Start a new chat — Click New chat in the sidebar or press Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + O
  • Try a Chat Mode — Click Writer or Coder from the home screen
  • Upload a file — Click + and attach a document to discuss

💡 Tip: The more context you give, the better the responses. Instead of "help me write", try "help me write a professional email to a client about a project delay".
